“... the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5: 16
Angel Tree at Huber Memorial Church is part of Prison Fellowship Ministry and Campus Crusade for Christ.
"Our church is pleased to participate in Angel Tree®, a Prison Fellowship® program that provides a pathway for incarcerated parents to restore and strengthen relationships with their children and families. Volunteers from our church give Christmas gifts and the Good News of God’s love to children in the name of mothers and fathers behind bars."
Special highlights and functions of this ministry:
Working with other ministries at Huber, we bring the Angel Tree Children and their caregivers the experience of being part of our church ‘family’. They are invited to the Church School Christmas Program where the ‘true’ meaning of Christmas with the Gospel message of Jesus Christ is shared, and a Christmas gift is given on the behalf of their incarcerated parent. Each child is given a memento of the event by having his or her picture taken. This picture is is also sent to the incarcerated parent. We hope and pray we have added a blessing to their holiday season and have helped them start a new path in their lives.
To answer the challenge of supporting 100 children, we call on the ' church family' to fill many roles of the process that begins long before Christmas.
In July, Prison Fellowship begins the children sign up process with the inmate parent.
In September, Huber confirms who will participate and requests children based on the ZIP CODES around our church.
In October, Huber begins to build a volunteer team of captains, contact and party assistants, and gift givers.
In November, Huber begins to assign children and shoppers.
In December, the Huber Church School invites the Angel Tree children and their caregivers to the Christmas event.
